The seven year, $5.2 Million BC PEAK Performance Project was initially launched in 2009 with 102.7 The PEAK, Canada’s first AAA format station. Now in year 6, the BC PEAK PP has changed the lives of 100 artists and created a vibrant music community in British Columbia. The seven year, $4.8 Alberta PEAK Performance Project is launching in 2014 with the new 95.3 The PEAK (Calgary). The projects are administered by Music BC Industry Association in BC and Alberta Music Industry Association in Alberta.
The PEAK Performance Project is designed to educate, promote, develop and hopefully launch the careers of some of BC’s and Alberta’s up and coming artists. It also hopes to foster the BC and Alberta music industries and create a sense of community amongst music professionals. While the projects are run as separate programs in each province, there is an incredible opportunity to create bridges between BC and Alberta with a shared educational experience at the Rockridge Canyon, Princeton, BC Bootcamp.
This year, twelve artists from BC will receive an intensive, one week training program in the music business, live performance, songwriting, marketing and promotion. Artists will benefit from mentorships from some of the music industry’s top professionals and performers. Each of the finalists receives a base camp award of $5000 to spend towards career development! All of these artists will have the chance to perform live in Vancouver as part of the the PEAK Performance Project Concert Series. The top 3 artists will also perform at the PEAK Performance Project Finale Concert, where they will take home the following awards:
- First Place $102,700;
- Second Place $75,000;
- Third Place $50,000;
