The Music Assistance Program (MAP) provides exclusive funding and opportunities to Music BC paid members. MAP assists eligible members in the areas of travel funding, demo recording, showcase opportunities, compilation opportunities and more!

Pemberton Music Festival Showcase Opportunity

We are very excited to be offering up a showcase opportunity for a lucky Music BC member to play at the 2014 Pemberton Music Festival! The showcase will take place on Thursday, July 17th at the Pemberton Festival Site. The night also features Gord Downie with The Sadies, Matt Mays and Dan Deacon.

UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES:

Canadian Music Week (CMW) Showcase
Every year Music BC holds a showcase of BC artists during Canadian Music Week. One spot is reserved for an eligible Music BC member to showcase their talents. Past artists include: Mother Mother, Hedley, Dan Mangan, Daniel Wesley, We Are the City and many more. CMW is held in March of each year, and applications typically open in the Fall prior.

Folk Alliance Showcase
The International Folk Alliance conference is an annual event that draws together music industry professionals from throughout the world to share ideas, network, and celebrate traditional music and dance. It is an event of celebration, education, and entertainment, that includes showcases, panels, workshops, and exhibitors. This year Music BC will be hosting it’s very own private showcase room, over 4 nights!

Music BC Compilation Program
In the past Music BC has produced an annual compilation CD that was distributed at various industry events and conferences. This program has transitioned into an event-based, genre-specific export-marketing and promotional tool, with a new compilation released and distributed at our various festival and conference initiatives.

Music BC Demo Program
The Demo Program assists new BC artists with the production of a high quality demo recording used to present to key music industry professionals to secure recording, publishing and live performance agreements. Artists are teamed up with local producers and studios who donate their time to create a professional demo recording.

PEAK Travel Grant
Thanks to a generous donation from the Pattison Broadcasting Group’s station 102.7 The PEAK, we are able to offer funding deadlines for artist and business travel. These grants are to provide assistance to BC based recording artists and BC owned businesses to participate in performance and showcasing initiatives that are undertaken in support of BC owned sound recordings.

Rifflandia Showcase Opportunity
The annual Rifflandia Festival takes place every September in Victoria BC.
Music BC proudly presents some of BC’s great emerging talent with a showcase at the Victoria Events Centre. Showcase slots are reserved for Music BC members and decided on by jury of industry professionals. Look for this opportunity again next year!

South By Southwest Music Showcase
North America’s premier live music festival and industry conference event. Take your career to the next level with this amazing platform for export-ready artists. Music BC will take 5 acts and 3 companies to Austin in 2014 and program 2 showcase events including one night-time club show for the general public and one top secret pool party for industry only!

Mission Folk Festival Showcase Opportunity
Music BC is pleased to partner with Mission Folk Festival to offer a unique performance opportunity for our members in the folk/roots community. Music BC programs a  paid showcase event Saturday afternoon consisting of 3 folk acts, chosen by an industry jury to perform at the festival. 3 artists will be selected to perform  45 minute sets at Mission Folk Festival.One of the three will be chosen to perform at the CBC Nooner stage in downtown Vancouver and receive a tour of the CBC studios.
