“Starting your own Record Label/ Publishing Company”

A common question we get is “How do I start a record label?” and “Should I have my own publishing company?” This seminar will tackle issues such as the benefits of an independent label, the pitfalls, financial burdens, resources, what is a music publishing company, how can having my own company help me as an artist, and more.

LYDIA POPOVICH - QUANNUM PROJECTS - San Francisco, California

Lydia Popovich has worked for Quannum Projects for five years, and as General Manager oversees all of the label's operations, with particular focus on Radio and Marketing. She has spearheaded countless label initiatives, including releases by Lyrics Born, DJ Shadow, Blackalicious, Lifesavas, Pigeon John, Honeycut and Tommy Guerrero. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking (her BBQ ribs are near perfection), drinking fine whisky and the art of hating, the results of which can be enjoyed at her blog HaterTuesday.com.
