The Music BC Career Development Seminar Series is Music BC’s signature music and music industry education
program. The program is a series of educational seminars taking place throughout the year designed with
musicians, record labels, artist managers, composers and other music industry personnel in mind to help
advance their careers in music.
Free to Music BC members and other paid members, the Music BC Career Development Series covers
topics that will keep attendees up to date and relevant in today’s rapidly changing music industry.
Topics that have been covered in the past include Music & the Internet, Festival and Tour Planning,
Tax Preparation for Musicians, Promotion, Business and Marketing Plans, Licensing, Distribution, Copyright
and Placing Music in Film and Television.
Through FACTOR funding, Music BC has expanded the Career Development Series to smaller regions of BC
outside of the Greater Vancouver region in order to share this same vital knowledge with musicians and
music industry professionals around the province. Regional Career Development Series work-shops have
become an essential part of Music BC’s continued outreach efforts to service the many music industry
members located outside of Vancouver.
