We are every excited to be partnering with Pemberton Music Festival this year and offer a showcase opportunity to a Music BC Member. Taking place on Thursday, July 17th at the Pemberton Festival Site the chosen artist will be opening the draw for Gord Downie with The Saides, Matt Mays and Dan Deacon.

The Music Industry Travel Assistance Program (“MITAP”) is administered by the Music BC Industry Association on behalf of Creative BC, financially supported by the Province of British Columbia.
MITAP provides assistance to BC based recording artists to participate in performance and showcasing initiatives that are undertaken in support of BC owned sound recordings. MITAP also assists BC based music businesses to participate in conferences and other business travel in order to support BC based recording artists.
Music BC is once again be teaming up with the Mission Folk Festival to present some of the best of BC folk music. One selected artist will also perform at a CBC Nooner concert at the plaza stage in Vancouver.
3 artists will be selected to perform 45 minute sets at Mission Folk Festival on Saturday July 26th.
One of the three will be chosen to perform at the CBC Nooner stage in downtown Vancouver on Thursday July 24th, and receive a tour of the CBC studios.

Music BC is proud to announce the return of the K96-3 Emerging Artist Program!
Focusing on artists from BC’s interior regions, this program is designed to aid in the development and promotion of interior artists, through recording grants, education, and showcase opportunities.
This year, each of the top 5 selected artists will receive a $1000 grant to record a new original song. These songs will form a part of the adjudication of the band, as well as be featured on the 2014 KComp CD.
The top 5 artists will also all showcase at Keloha Festival in Kelowna on July 13th, with the performance being adjudicated to also contribute to their overall assessment.
Finally the artists will participate in a day of intensive music industry training, which will help them assess their strengths, weaknesses, and goals for their careers.

April 1st, 2014 applications will open for the 6th year of BC’s PEAK Performance Project.
It’s an exciting year, as our friends at Alberta Music will also be launching the inaugural year of Alberta’s own PPP! The two provinces will run their own contests, however they will join forces at the week long artist development bootcamp in Princeton, BC, where the artists will learn, create, and record together.
Teaming up with BeatRoute Magazine and Vancouver-based music blog Winniecooper.net, Music BC highlights the diversity of the Canadian west coast music scene throughout two electrifying showcases during SXSW 2014.
Maggie Mae’s on Friday March 14th and The Velveeta Room on Saturday March 15th are stacked with BC artists.

Music BC is excited to be teaming up with BreakOut West and it’s partners (Alberta Music, SaskMusic, and Music Manitoba) to present the finest folk from western canada at this year’s Folk Alliance International conference in Kansas City, MO.
We will be featuring 12 BC artists in 2 BreakOut West private suites, in afternoon and late night showcases.

Music BC is hiring a Membership and Communications Administrator. This role will be responsible for handling our social media platforms, as well as press releases, blog posts, and member inquiries. The position includes reception duties, assisting members with benefits and services, making sure we have an active and up to date website and online resources, assisting with Music BC and PEAK Performance Project events, coordinating volunteers, and assisting the Program Manager with projects as requested. The ideal candidate should be friendly, organized, have excellent communication skills, have a general knowledge of the music industry, and be online savvy. Experience with graphic design, web programming or video editing a plus.

The International Folk Alliance conference is an annual event that draws together music industry professionals from throughout the world to share ideas, network, and celebrate traditional music and dance. It is an event of celebration, education, and entertainment, that includes showcases, panels, workshops, and exhibitors.
Music BC will be returning to the Folk Alliance International conference, taking place in Kansas City MO, February 19th-23rd, 2014. We will be hosting our showcases in a private suite, featuring the best in BC’s folk talent!

These grants are to provide assistance to BC based recording artists and BC owned businesses to participate in performance and showcasing initiatives that are undertaken in support of BC owned sound recordings.
