Every year Music BC holds a showcase of BC artists during Canadian Music Week. One spot is reserved for an eligible paid Music BC member to showcase their talents. Past artists include: Hedley, Dan Mangan, Daniel Wesley, Limblifter, Leeroy Stagger, Mother Mother & many more.

Band or artist must be able to commit to playing at Music BC’s showcase during Canadian Music Week, March 10th – 13 2010, in Toronto, Ont. Date is yet to be confirmed.
Showcase will be held at a venue in Toronto that is yet to be confirmed and must play at time slot given. (Time slot is TBD) You must provide your own travel, accomodations and meals.
Must be a Music BC member in good standing (not sure if you’re still a member? Give us a call at 604.873.1914)
Band/artist will be selected by the Music BC CMW Committee which is comprised of local music industry personnel
Music BC will contribute $500 towards travel expenses.
Basic backline will be provided (2 guitar amps, bass amp, drum shells)
Music BC will not be liable for any other expenses.

Canadian Music Week is Canada’s leading annual entertainment event dedicated to the expression and growth of the country’s music, media and entertainment industries. Combining four information-intensive conferences; a trade exposition; a film festival; four awards shows and the nation’s largest New Music Festival – Canadian Music Fest – CMW spans a five-day period from March 10 to March 14, 2010 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and various downtown Toronto venues, attracting participants from across the globe.

2010 Compilation CD!

This program is open to all Music BC members who have commercially released an album, EP or single within the last 24 months, or will be within the next 3 months (proof may be requested). A jury selected by Music BC will determine which songs to include on the 2010 Music BC Compilation CD of BC artists.
Successful applicants will have one track included in the Music BC 2010 Compilation CD. This compilation will be made available at the MIDEM conference 2010, CMW, SXSW, JUNO Awards Events, and also available at various Canadian Consulates. The compilation will be available as a promotional CD only and not for sale. Applicants are advised that no royalties or mechanical licensing fees shall be payable for inclusion on this compilation. Applicants acknowledge that Music BC Industry Association may use the compilation CD to promote BC artists to international consulates, labels, Film/TV, publishers and other music industry companies.
BONUS: All artists selected for inclusion on the compilation CD will also have their song posted on www.musicfrombc.com which is Music BC’s streaming music site to promote music from BC artists that is ready for tv/film/video game placements. At the jury’s discretion, they may also recommend a selection of applicants who were not chosen for the CD to be included on www.musicfrombc.com.
Hard copies of the applications for the Compilation program and other MAP programs are available in Music BC’s Resource Centre located at #530 – 23 W. Pender St. in Vancouver, BC.
Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. All components of your application must be received by the date and time of deadline. Applications received by fax will not be accepted. No exceptions will be made.

Hip hop business veteran Kyle Kraft has played a key role in some of Canada’s biggest independent rap music success stories. The co-founder of Battle Axe Music will be facilitating an interactive overview of how artists and business people alike can establish and develop careers working in the genre that allow for sustainability and growth. This seminar will be taking place in the Music BC office board room where seating is extremely limited, so be sure to register asap to reserve your seat. This workshop is free for Music BC members, $25 for non-members who can get on the standby list and can attend if the seats are not all filled by members.

Annual General Meeting
Music BC’s AGM for 2009 will be held Wednesday, October 14th at Tom Lee Music Hall. All full paid members are encouraged to attend and participate.
We will be electing our board of directors, reviewing the projects from last year, and asking for input on how to bring attention to the recent arts cuts. It’s important our members attend and support their music community!
