Are you a label or manager? Interested in networking with music supervisors? Represent at least 2 BC based artists who are export ready and have songs ready for licensing? Send your info here, and you might be chosen to come to an invite only networking reception with our music supervisors from LA!
Individuals will be notified by Tuesday June 2nd by 5pm if they have been selected to attend. Please do not contact Music BC regarding your status.
Networking event will be at a Hotel in Downtown Vancouver on Friday June 5th from 7pm-9pm.
Deadline is Monday June 1st at 5pm (PST)
Definition of BC based artist: artist or majority of band members must be currently residing in BC for at least the past 6 months.

ALICEN CATRON SCHNEIDER/Vice President, Music Creative Services, NBC Universal Television
Alicen co-leads the NBC Universal Television music department heading up the creative division. She currently music supervises “Heroes”, “Royal Pains”, “Trauma”, “Caprica” and “Warehouse 13”. In addition, she supervises select NBC Agency promo and marketing campaigns, including the Olympics and also assists with strategic music partnerships for multi-platform marketing, Network and Cable series. She serves as music liaison between Network and Studio creative executives for stunt casting and on-camera opportunities and works with composers on the creation of original compositions and recordings for episodic series and promos.
Before coming to NBC, Alicen was an A&R assistant in the television and film division of Warner Special Products (a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records) as well as a deejay for KXLU-FM, Los Angeles.
RUDY CHUNG, Music Supervisor – Hit The Ground Running Inc.
Rudy Chung is a Los Angeles-based music supervisor and music consultant for film/TV at Hit The Ground Running (HTGR). He has music supervised projects for HBO, CBS, ABC, FOX, NBC, the CW, A&E and MTV. He also recently consulted on several Russian productions for Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) in Moscow. A Detroit native and a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania, Rudy came to LA to work as the head grant-writer at the Henry Mancini Institute, and as a production assistant at KCRW-FM radio working on the radio programs “Metropolis” with Jason Bentley and “Weekend Becomes Eclectic” with Anne Litt. HTGR’s current and past music supervision credits include CSI, CSI: New York, CSI: Miami, Entourage, Everybody Hates Chris, The Cleaner, Kath & Kim, Dancelife, Cold Case, Eleventh Hour, and Without A Trace. Past film credits include Goal!, Flicka, The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Behind The Mask, and the Oscar winning short-form documentary “A Note of Triumph: The Golden Age of Norman Corwin”. Currently Rudy is music supervising a feature length documentary on Wikipedia entitled “Truth In Numbers”.

In 2009, the media surrounds us at every turn. All of those mediums are at your disposal to publicize and promote your music should you use the media to the correct advantage. In this very informative and positive seminar, Grant Lawrence, a long time musician and CBC Radio 3 music journalist, will share the secrets of making friends with the media, writing a great press release, giving the best interview, and how to use all the latest social networking tools that maximize publicity possibilities. Remember that a great relationship with the media is just as important as a great relationship with the fans.

Grant Lawrence has long been a leading voice in independent music in Canada. For years, the gregarious and encyclopedic Lawrence has hosted the CBC Radio 3 Podcast, a weekly showcase of Canadian independent music. Grant also hosts a live and interactive daily program on CBC Radio 3’s popular web radio station, also airing on Sirius 86. Grant can be heard throughout the week on various CBC Radio One programs such as Q, DNTO, and Sounds Like Canada, and hosts many major music events, such as the Polaris Music Prize Gala, and various festivals around North America. Prior to his work at CBC, Grant Lawrence was the lead singer of the internationally acclaimed Vancouver garage band The Smugglers.
