We are exited to announce our partnership with the 2012 Mission Folk Festival!
Music BC will be presenting 3 BC emerging “folk” acts at the Mission Folk Festival on Saturday, July 21st 2012.
See below for full criteria! Deadline to apply: June 1st, 2012 5pm
*Applicant must be a current Music BC member
*Applicant must be available on Saturday July 21st to perform between 1-5pm, exact showcase time TBA
*”Folk” can be defined as traditional, roots, blues, world, singer-songwriter, aboriginal,
folk rock, etc. Our jury will decide on the appropriateness of the application for the festival.
*Artist agrees to accept honourarium as offered by Mission Folk Festival, to be discussed upon selection
*Backline may be provided, to be arranged with festival
*Music BC is not responsible for additional costs (transportation, musician fees etc)
*Band/artists will be selected by a Music BC jury comprised of local music industry personnel.

Non-profit Organization Membership Form
The Non-Profit Organization Membership provides a non profit organization with all the benefits of an Individual membership. Non-Profit Organization members receive all the benefits of a Individual Member with the exception of applying for MAP Programs. Music BC would like to offer reciprocal memberships to all Non Profits. Contact the Music BC office (info@musicbc.org) for more details.

Songwriters of all levels are welcome to come participate in a workshop designed to inspire your creativity and hone your craft!
Hear some of BC’s best performers share their secrets on the songwriting process, and how they work their ideas into memorable pieces of music. Attendees are welcome to bring an instrument and share a song to receive feedback on (as time allows).
Songwriters Circle: 3:00-5:00pm
After hearing them speak about the process, see it live in action as our songwriters share their favourite songs, tell the stories about how they came to be, and collaborate together for what is sure to be a unique performance from these talented artists.

Congratulations to Our BC JUNO Winners!
Sunday, April 1st, 2012, marked the 41st year of the JUNO Awards- Canada’s premier recording arts industry awards ceremony. BC artists were well represented this year, taking home a trio of the top awards. Michael Buble won Album of the Year (Christmas), Dan Mangan took home two statuettes for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album (Oh Fortune), while Hedley were awarded Best Pop Album (Storms).
Also making BC audiences proud were:
- Nanaimo’s Phil Dwyer Orchestra ft. Mark Fewer for Contemporary Jazz Album: Changing Seasons
- Murray Porter for Aboriginal Album: Songs Lived & Life Played
- Brian Howes, Producer: Heaven’s Gonna Wait (Hedley) and Trying Not to Love You (Nickelback)
- Rethink Media‘s Jeff Harrison & Kim Ridgewell for Best Recording Package Rest of the Story (Chris Tarry)
Music BC’s Executive Director Bob D’Eith was in attendance and had the following to report on the festivities:
“Music BC was very excited to be present at this year’s JUNO Awards in Ottawa. We have much to be proud of as our province continues to produce some of the best talent to be seen on the world stage.”
