LA Trade Mission

Thanks to funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage music export marketing program as administered by the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), and funding from the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, Music BC shall be hosting a trade mission opportunity for BC music companies and artists to travel to Los Angeles in order to network with music supervisors for film, television, video games and commercials. The program is designed to support the placement of BC created sound recordings and songs into film, television, video games and commercials in the United States.

The project will take five to seven eligible BC based music companies and up to three recording artists on the trade mission.  Two artists selected shall be chosen from the BC companies attending the trade mission and one artist position will be chosen from the general Music BC membership. All artist selections shall be carried out on a peer jury basis.

To apply:

• first download the complete the paper guidelines and application form.
• Then upload a scanned copy of the completed form, and all requested attachments in the form below.
• when the application has been successfully completed, you will see a “thank you for applying” message and receive a confirmation email. If you do not, then your application was not successfully submitted.
• If you are having problems submitting, please try using FireFox as your browser, lowering the size of your attachments, and make sure to wait an appropriate time for them to upload. If you continue to have problems, you may send the requested information via email to savannah@musicbc.org. All requested information must be included for the application to be considered complete.

CMW SHOWCASE 2012!

Every year Music BC holds a showcase of BC artists during Canadian Music Week. Several slots are  reserved for  eligible Music BC members to showcase their talents. Past artists include: Dan Mangan, Mother Mother, Daniel Wesley, We Are the City and many more.

Apply today to perform at Music BC’s 2012 CMW Showcase by filling out the quick and easy form below!

Deadline: Friday November 25th, 2011. 5pm (PST)

Please read below and review carefully before applying. By applying you agree to all the points listed below.

• Band or artist must be able to commit to playing at Music BC’s showcase during Canadian Music Week, March 21st – 25th 2012, in Toronto, Ont. Showcase date is yet to be confirmed.

• Showcase will be held at a venue in Toronto that is yet to be confirmed and must play at time slot given. (Time slot is TBD) You must provide your own travel, accommodations and meals.

• Must be a Music BC member in good standing (not sure if you’re still a member? Give us a call at 604.873.1914)

• Band/artist will be selected by the Music BC CMW Committee which is comprised of local music industry personnel.

• Music BC will contribute $500 towards travel expenses. You are also able to apply to the MAP Travel Grant for further funding.

• Music BC will not be liable for any other expenses.
• Must complete all fields in form below.
