It’s free for everyone, and you don’t have to be a Music BC member to attend.

There will be free beer courtesy of Steamwhistle Brewing for the first 100 people who arrive.

There will also be ice-breaker games for those of you who need a little kick in the pants to get talking to people.

MITAP is a travel funding program administered on behalf of the Province of BC, by Music BC that provides separate travel funding opportunities for ARTISTS and music industry BUSINESS purposes.

Complete applications must be received by Music BC by 5pm on the deadline date, not postmarked by. No fax or email MITAP applications will be accepted. No exceptions will be made under any circumstances.

Hip hop business veteran Kyle Kraft has played a key role in some of Canada’s biggest independent rap music success stories. The co-founder of Battle Axe Music and founder of Krafty Entertainment will be facilitating an interactive overview of how artists and business people alike can establish and develop careers working in the genre that allow for sustainability and growth. This seminar will be taking place in the Music BC office board room where seating is extremely limited, so be sure to register asap to reserve your seat. Youthink magazine, Tom Lee Music and 100.5 The Peak FM have announced their Top 10 for BC’s Best Teen Band Contest!

Congratulations to the finalists (in alphabetical order):

1) Alexandria Maillot – a pop-indie soul artist from Maple Ridge
2) All The Way – an alt-rock band from Coquitlam
3) The Archers – an alt-indie folk band from Victoria
4) Far From Fiction – an alt-rock band from Vancouver
5) Hailey Morgan – an indie pop-rock artist from Langley
6) Ivory Coast – an alt-indie band from Abbotsford
7) Patrick Kelly – a pop-rock artist from Kelowna
8) Ready Steady Go – a reggae ska-rock band from Burnaby and North Vancouver
9) The Stirs – an alt-rock band from Chilliwack
10) Stoned Optic – a punk-rock band from Victoria

A group of music industry judges selected the Top 10 artists from nearly 50 entries across the
province. The bands are now featured on bandcontest.youthink.ca where voters will determine
the Top 3, which will be announced on February 8, 2011.
The Top 3 finalists will compete live at Tom Lee Music Hall on April 30, 2011 for the title
of BC’s Best Teen Band. A panel of industry judges will determine the winner and the
first-place band will receive amazing prizes including:

  • $3,000 for artist development
  • A recording session with Jay Evjen of Juicemix Productions at The Factory Studios
  • A songwriting session with Shaun Verreault of Wide Mouth Mason
  • A guitar and gift certificates from Tom Lee Music
  • Tuition to Next Level Learning Centre + more!

Youthink, Tom Lee Music and 100.5 The Peak FM launched the second annual BC’s Best Teen Band
Contest in October 2010, with over $10,000 in prizes and opportunities up for grabs. The competition
gives young bands from across the province a chance to showcase their music, connect with key
players in the music industry and educate them on how to advance their music careers.

100.5 the PEAK Presents the West Coast Pop Concert Series, every Saturday at the Redroom starting February 19th, 2011!

West Coast Pop will be bringing a diverse selection of national and international talent to the west coast, and giving local talent the opportunity to shine.  All the while, keeping the experience affordable for the fans!

Music BC members can now submit to be considered as a support act for a West Coast Pop show.  Selection of the artists and the show they would be most suited to participate in is at the discretion of West Coast Pop. Due to the high volume of applications, only successful artists will be contacted, and feedback on your application will not be available.

The deadline is February 25th 2011, but  the earlier you apply the more potential dates you will be eligible for!

On the following form please upload a live performance video that best represents your live show, one Mp3, and a hi-res jpeg photo that could be use for promotional purposes.

  • The total file size of your uploads should not exceed 10MB.
  • Please be patient after hitting “submit”, as it may take a while for your files to upload.
  • Once the form has been submitted successfully you will see a Thank You message and receive a confirmation email.
