The BreakOut West 2010 Festival performer line up is now complete. The festival runs over three nights in nine of  Kelowna’s finest music venues and some of the confirmed artists include Leela Gilday, Library Voices, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Sandro Dominelli, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, The Zolas, The Lytics, Gordie Tentrees. Hosting the 2010 Western Canadian Music Awards Gala this year will be CBC’s Grant Lawrence and Manitoba born actress Micheline Marchildon. This year’s awards show boasts performances by Annie Lou & Genevieve Toupin, Doc Walker & Shane Yellowbird, Tambura Rasa, Ariane Mahryke Lemire & Shawn Jobin, You Say Party & Grand Analog, Grapes of Wrath & We Are The City.
The Music Awards will be presented in Kelowna during BreakOut West 2010 on Sunday October 24th and for the first time in the award’s eight year history they will be broadcast in English on CBC Television and in French on Radio Canada. Tegan and Sara will receive the 2010 International Achievement Award while Chilliwack and Daniel Lavoie will each receive this year’s Hall Of Fame Award the same evening.

The Western Canadian Music Industry Awards will be presented on Saturday October 23rd.  This year’s keynote interview will feature Chilliwack founder, songwriter and music business professional Bill Henderson.

BreakOut West runs from October 21st to 24th, 2010.

Kelowna’s Classic Rock station K96.3 and Music BC are excited to announce Kelowna’s first ever emerging artist compilation. Entitled the “K Comp”, the album will feature a variety of talented emerging artists from around the Okanagan.

What sets this compilation apart from others though, is that emerging artists will get the chance to apply to be part of the album. Applications will be open to the public on Friday, September 17th and K96.3 – Kelowna’s Classic Rock along with Music BC would like to put a call out to all Interior-based emerging artists to apply for this unique experience that is so much more than just getting your song put on a compilation.

Applications will be open to the public until Saturday, October 30th then a hand-picked panel of industry professionals will adjudicate all submissions and choose the top 12 emerging artists to be featured on K96.3 – Kelowna’s Classic Rock’s K Comp Volume 1. This announcement will take place live on air on Friday, November 5th.

Along with K96.3 – Kelowna’s Classic Rock radio play, chosen artists will also take part in a career development workshop hosted by Habitat and Music BC on Friday, November 19th where they will receive mentorship and one-on-one time with music industry professionals followed in the evening by a live ticketed performance featuring the top 12 K Comp Emerging Artists.

The Demo Program assists new BC artists with the production of a high quality demo recording used to present to key music industry professionals to secure recording, publishing and live performance agreements.

There must be a minimum of 3 songs recorded for this demo program.

Studio partners, Deep Cove Music, FaderMaster, Hipposonic and Vogville Recording Studios shall be providing all studio costs (engineer, studio and producer fees). The successful applicant shall record a three song demonstration master of professional quality (maximum three days in studio) and shall own the master recording from such session.

A new part of the Demo Program, recipients will also receive 100 demo’s manufactured by  cdwest.ca

Our PEAK Performance Project Concert Series kicks off September 9th at the Red Room on Richards!

They will take place every Thursday for 5 weeks as we showcase all our fabulous top 20 artists.

Tickets are free, but you have to win to get in! Listen to 100.5 the PEAK, sign up to be a PEAK VIP, and follow your favourite artists for special giveaways!  If you aren’t lucky enough to win, you can still show up and we’ll try get you in first-come-first-served!

Doors are at 8:00, show starts at 9:00 sharp.
