So come out and meet some great people, and celebrate what an awesome event this has become.

WHAT IS SCHMUSIC?

This month Habitat has been given the honor of competing in CBC Radio 3’s nation wide search for Canada’s best live music club. In fact, we made the first cut into the top fifty, up against some pretty big venues. There is an obvious disjuncture between Canada’s large metropolises, say Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver, and the smaller cities like Prince George, Wakefield, and our very own Kelowna.

So what’s the deal with that? Well, if we win, we aren’t only winning for Habitat, we’re winning for Kelowna. Same goes for all the other smaller areas in the competition. What do we have over those huge cultural centers? POTENTIAL.

The beauty of not being terribly known is the opportunity to become something new. It’s an exciting time for us at Habitat, and all of us here in Kelowna. Monster cities with scenes already established are nothing compared to the clean slate awaiting your creativity we have here in the valley, here at Habitat.

So, come see some shows. Even if you don’t know who is playing, try something new. Music may not sound as perfect live, but it is definitely an experience and a moment in your life you won’t soon forget. Budding musician? Low on cash? Come down to Open Mic every Wednesday and experience raw talent and our inexpensive, deliciously healthy menu first hand. Stay tuned to this site for upcoming bands and fundraisers. Vote Habitat at http://radio3.cbc.ca/polls/?pollId=31 and help in the effort to bring more shows, and most importantly, be involved in a musical community that is quickly gaining national recognition.

The snow is melting, and the butterflies in our tummies our aching to frolic in the spring that is so soon upon us. It is the time of regeneration, rebirth, and reverberating spine tingling musical melodies. The season is young, and so are we.

You know we love you,

Habitat
