The new Music BC website now also features a video of the week! We’d like to see member videos submitted, they can be music videos, live footage, or other music-related creativity, as long as they follow the requirements below:

4) Video must be hosted by YouTube
5) Application does not guarantee inclusion, selection is at Music BC’s discretion.
6) You must have full permission to post this video. If you do not own the masters to the music in this video, or have rights to use the footage, we will not accept it.

Summary of RFP

The Peak FM is a new AAA format FM station launching in Vancouver in late 2008. As part of their licensing requirements with the CRTC the Peak FM has dedicated Canadian Content Development funds to help develop BC musicians and recording artists. The Music BC Industry Association shall be administering the program: The Peak Performance Program (“PPP”). The PPP will be running for seven years commencing in the spring of 2009.

One component of the PPP is an educational Boot Camp which will take place each summer for seven summers starting in the summer of 2009. The proposer of this RFP will bid on the production and delivery of the facilities, accommodation and food required to carry out the boot camp.

Boot Camp specific requirements

1. Accommodation for 100 people including artists, staff and faculty (no more than two people per room for 80 artists– one person per room for 20 faculty and staff ) for a period of one week from arriving Sunday and departing Sunday;
2. Food and non-alcoholic beverages during the period including a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner. Proposed menu to be provided. Proposer shall deliver reasonable special meal and dietary requests for no extra charge i.e. lactose intolerance, peanut allergies (such request which shall be sent to proposer at least two weeks prior to event);
3. Two local excursions for all 100 participants including any transportation and entry fees;
4. Lock-out on a theatre able to handle at least 150 – 250 people for the entire week;
5. Minimum of Four (4) smaller rooms for break-out and master-class sessions during the week;
6. Minimum of two (2) music rehearsal rooms with back-line (professional drums, bas and guitar amps) during the week;
7. Production of showcasing opportunities for 20 acts (playing three songs each) on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings including provision of professional back-line drums, bass and guitar amps (proposer may use venue and music retail sponsors approved by The Peak and Music BC);
8. Promotion of showcases in local area;
9. Video-taping team is not required, but any supplemental proposals are welcome;
10. Theatre must include full lights, sound and on-call sound man during week;
11. Theatre must be able to allow for projections and computer display hook-up;
12. Break-out rooms require white boards and erasable pens;
13. Provision of one full-time proposer staff member on-site during entire Boot Camp week;
14. Any extra value-added propositions over and above the basic requirements shall be also taken into account.
15. Please see attached example course outline for proposed delivery and time lines.
16. Theatre may be used for showcasing if proposer is able ensure public participation in showcasing during the event.
17. All faculty and course materials will be provided by Music BC.

5. Possible available dates during summer;
6. Long-term availability i.e. can this facility be booked for multiple years in advance?
